John has over 40 years experience in the taxation field commencing his career in the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) where he progressed through the technical areas of the Sydney office, culminating with eight years experience in the litigation area. Since leaving the ATO John has held a number of senior tax positions both in the corporate world and in the chartered accounting area, including as a manager in one of the Big 4 accounting firms.

Since joining Nexia Court & Co in 1999 John has consulted on a wide range of tax issues, including:

corporate restructures;
Fringe benefits tax and salary packaging;
GST; and
Capital gains tax.

John has also negotiated and successfully resolved a number of tax disputes with the ATO on behalf of clients.
John has also been able to obtain favourable product rulings for a number of different industry clients, including those focused in primary production, biotechnology and gold mining.

John is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, a registered tax agent and has presented various taxation related papers to diverse groups as well as being involved in roadshows on the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax in Australia.
